April Ross

April Ross is one of just a handful of female beach volleyball players to capture medals at multiple Olympics. Alix klineman, who is playing for the first time at Tokyo's Olympic Games is hoping to secure her third medal. Ross's aim is to get her first Olympic gold medal. And at the age of 39 this may be her final chance to do so. However, she's confident that top honors are firmly within reach. Ross on NBC Boston, said that if the team plays very well, or even at all, it could be able to win gold. It's also going to be a matter of chance. Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and sister. Ross's athletic endeavors continued at Newport Harbor High School where she was a part of a number of different sports. While a prep student she was a participant in the indoor game of volleyball, as well as basketball as well as running track. However she was clearly an edge over the other players in the latter sport. Based on her biography, she was a middle blocker and outside volleyball player during her senior year at high school. In recognition of her accomplishments, she received the Gatorade Award for National Player in 1999. In addition, she was awarded the 1999 Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. While Ross and Klineman are a couple since the year 2017, Klineman was already a big-time athlete on the beach long before their pairing. In actual, Ross has won several significant tournaments during her time together with two other partners. One of them is a volleyball legend. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to the year 2013. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who took home the title of world champion together with Kessy in 2009, also was a major force on an international level. The pair eventually picked up a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the group to beat out for gold. Ross became Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. They both won bronze medals in beach volleyball for the Rio Olympics of 2016. Ross played for the Trojans of USC during her college days, the years prior to her professional career. The Trojans had a great performance for Ross during her time at the college level. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of Year when she was a teen freshman. The Trojans could also reach the Final Four with her help. She endured a great personal defeat in her sophomore year but was still capable of achieving the All-American distinction. During her final two seasons with the Trojans team the team was led to victories by winning consecutive national championships. As an individual she established herself as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the best female volleyball players at colleges across the United States. Ross was an international relations major at USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter achieve the heights of beach volleyball. When Ross was in her sophomore year in USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. But she still keeps her parents close to her heart. Margie is an inspiration on and off of the beach.
