Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is a mercurial singer and composer who weds the soul of gospel and jazz with R&B in a signature mix. The singer has worked everywhere from Broadway through the Democratic National Convention to the European scene of clubs and festivals. Sunshine has the name Denise White. While she's based in Atlanta but her origins are located in Chester Pennsylvania. There she was the first to begin pursuing the musical profession by performing and singing at the church. She attended Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her journey into music in Atlanta's R&B scene. The first song to feature her vocals was Stalk You which was a song from Japan's house 12; since then it was remixed and has become a part of her repertoire. Her voice was also featured on the soundtrack for The Fighting Temptations. In 2005, she was employed to be the main keyboardist for Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 about serving as the Choral Director for Dreamgirls which was a stage production at Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine received national attention for several performances throughout the Democratic National Convention in 2008. Sunshine was invited to sing as part of Obama's inaugural ceremony in 2009.
