Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents of her daughter named her after her hometown. Michel Horowitz was her father and Cynthia Palmer, his mother are both authors as well as editors. Ryder's father and mother have both been Jewish. Ryder believes herself to be Jewish. Uria is Ryder's younger sister. Jubal, Sunyata and Sunyata are Ryder's half-siblings. Ryder's parents moved her and their children into Mendocino County California when Ryder reached seven. They didn't even have electricity. Ryder was a prolific reader because of the lack of television. When she turned 12 years old, Ryder was accepted into the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. Ryder landed her first film role on the big screen in 1986, when she was 15 years old. Ryder was bullied throughout high school. She hoped that her acting career would change the way she dealt with bullying. It didn't turn out. She continued to pursue her dreams. Her biggest break was in 1988 when she appeared in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder had a successful role in numerous films. In 1993, he was nominated twice for Academy Awards.
